03 / What we shoot
Five briefs that come up most.
Estate and property video is the single most commissioned category on the Dolphin Coast, and the brief is demanding. Buyers are investing eight- and nine-figure rand at the top end — they expect cinematic treatment, aerial context, architectural framing, and a pace that respects the scale of the investment. We shoot estate films the way a brand film should be shot: considered, graded, scored, and cut to sit on the estate's website and in the buyer's inbox for years. Every estate we shoot needs permission — we handle the coordination with estate marketing and security so filming days run to plan.

Seasonal windows. Tide tables.
The Dolphin Coast has cinematic assets most of South Africa doesn't — dune beaches, natural rock pools at Thompsons Bay and Salt Rock, whale activity off the coastline, the old Ballito lighthouse, and the sub-tropical forest canopy that runs down to the high-water mark. We build tourism film around specific seasonal windows — the whale migration, the sardine run, summer light — and we scout tide tables before we scope the shoot. Timing is half the craft on this work.
06 / Aerial
SACAA-licensed along the Dolphin Coast.
Aerial cinematography is where the Dolphin Coast delivers the most cinematic return. Coastline, estates, golf courses and tropical canopy shoot beautifully from the air. We fly SACAA-licensed: Remote Pilot Licence (RPL), Remote Operator Certificate (ROC), and commercial public liability insurance. Most of the Dolphin Coast is outside controlled airspace, which means we can fly without ATC coordination — but proximity to King Shaka affects the southern end of the corridor, and Ballito sits close enough to matter for any flight above roughly 120 metres. We pre-check every site.
07 / Logistics
Ballito to Durban: 35 minutes.
Ballito to our Durban studio is 45 minutes on the N2 in off-peak traffic. For a half-day shoot we travel up in the morning and back in the evening with no overnight cost. For full-day or multi-day shoots we can base out of Ballito itself. Either way, the travel premium is minimal — and footage is in the edit room the same day.
